I have Mcafee right now and it is resource consuming. If I install AVG and Avast is there any way I can stop them from identifying each other as viruses and thus slow my computer down? It seems that from my previous experience AVG might detect certain things that Avast might not and Vice Versa. I am planning on uninstalling Mcafee after this.

Stacking anti-virus results in even slower actions from your computer. One program will try and penetrate the other and see the impregnable security program as a threat. Norton was the worst! It really, really slowed my computer down and when I tried to remove it, it resisted. I had a pro take it out.

You should never have more than on Anti-virus program installed on your computer. If you do they can conflict with each other and you end up with no virus protection at all.

So, the answer is NO. No way to run anti-virus at the same time and not have them conflict. You can have both INSTALLED at the same time as long as only one of them is running. You can stop the McAfee from running, scan with the AVG, and then once done reactivate the McAfee. But you can not run both at the same time without causing problems.
